Description
So... When I was a kid, I read a lot of mythology. A LOT. My favorites were Greek, Norse, and some of the Coyote legends of Native American tradition. Of the three, though, I only ever designed characters for Norse mythology, for some reason. In fact, I had an entire Norse mythology headcanon that would make mythology purists cringe. My favorite character? Well, Marvel demands that I say Thor and Loki, but I think those two (while fantastic) come second to Loki's children, of which Jormungandr is my absolute favourite.
In my version of Norse mythology, the Midgard serpent is a red-headed fellow (or, on occasion, massive green serpent), friend of Odin's raven Munnin and collector of Midgardian lore.
This whole image is nothing short of a psychotic exercise in experimentation. I kept switching brush settings, colors, techniques, and styles the entire time I was working on it, so it's kind of a mess. I still like it, though, and I think I'm beginning to see some good coming from my recent remedial art studies.
This rendition of Jormungandr is my own design, of course.

Cool! I like the way you split your background with white lines; I'm not sure I've seen that technique before. Nice composition overall
